FITTONIA PLANT CARE
Fittonia, also known as nerve plant or mosaic plant, is a popular houseplant prized for its strikingly patterned leaves. Here's how to care for Fittonia indoors:
Sunlight
- Indirect Light: Fittonia prefers bright, indirect light. Place it near a window with filtered sunlight or in a well-lit room with plenty of ambient light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Watering
- Consistent Moisture: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water the plant when the top inch of soil feels dry. Fittonia prefers slightly higher humidity levels and may wilt if the soil becomes too dry.
- Watering Method: Water at the base of the plant to avoid wetting the foliage, which can lead to fungal diseases.
Humidity
- High Humidity: Fittonia thrives in high humidity environments. Increase humidity by misting the foliage regularly, placing a humidifier nearby, or grouping plants together. You can also use a pebble tray filled with water beneath the pot.
Temperature
- Warm Temperatures: Maintain temperatures between 15-24°C during the day and above 13°C at night. Fittonia is sensitive to cold drafts and temperatures below 10°C.
