POLKA DOT BEGONIA

The Polka Dot Begonia, also known as Begonia maculata, is a striking houseplant known for its unique foliage with silver polka dots and deep red undersides. To keep your Polka Dot Begonia healthy and vibrant, follow these care instructions:

Sunlight

  • Bright, indirect light: Polka Dot Begonias thrive in bright, indirect light. A spot near a window with filtered light or a few feet away from a sunny window is ideal. Direct sunlight can scorch the leaves, while too little light can result in leggy growth.

Watering

  • Moderate watering: Water your Polka Dot Begonia when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Water thoroughly until it drains out of the bottom of the pot, then empty the saucer to prevent root rot. Avoid letting the soil dry out completely or become waterlogged.

Humidity

  • High humidity: These plants prefer a humid environment. To increase humidity, mist the leaves regularly with water, use a humidity tray, or place a humidifier nearby. Grouping plants together can also help maintain a humid microclimate.

Temperature

  • Moderate temperatures: Polka Dot Begonias prefer temperatures between 18-24°C. Avoid placing them in drafty areas or near heaters and air conditioners, as sudden temperature changes can stress the plant.
