spanish moss
Spanish Moss (Tillandsia usneoides) is a unique and airy air plant that adds a whimsical, natural touch when draped over hooks, branches, or planters. Here’s how to care for it:
Sunlight
- Thrives in bright, indirect light.
- Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch its delicate strands.
Watering
- Mist 2–3 times a week, as this plant likes humidity, make sure you have a good air circulation and when misting avoid soaking the leaves, just mist around the plant.
- In drier environments, soak the moss in water for 10–20 minutes once a week. Allow excess water to drain to prevent rot.
- Use distilled, rain, or filtered water as tap water may contain chemicals harmful to the plant.
Humidity
- Prefers a humid environment (50% or higher).
- If your space is dry, mist more frequently or place it near a humidifier.
Temperature
- Keep in a warm environment between 15–26°C.
- Protect it from frost or prolonged exposure to temperatures below 10°C.
