STRING OF PEARLS
The String of Pearls (Senecio rowleyanus) is a unique and visually appealing succulent known for its trailing, bead-like foliage. Proper care is essential to keep this plant healthy and thriving indoors. Here are some tips on how to care for your String of Pearls:
Sunlight
- Bright, Indirect Light: Place your String of Pearls in a spot where it can receive plenty of bright, indirect light. A south- or west-facing window is ideal.
- Avoid Direct Sunlight: While some morning or late afternoon sun is beneficial, avoid prolonged direct sunlight, which can scorch the delicate leaves.
Watering
- Infrequent Watering: Water your String of Pearls thoroughly when most of the soil has completely dried out. Allow the soil to dry out between waterings. This is roughly about once every two weeks.
- Deep Watering: Water until it drains out of the bottom of the pot, then empty the saucer to prevent waterlogging. During the dormant winter period, reduce watering frequency.
Humidity
- Low Humidity: String of Pearls prefers dry conditions typical of most indoor environments. Avoid placing it in high humidity areas like bathrooms.
Temperature
- Room Temperature: The ideal temperature range is between 21°C to 27°C during the growing season and slightly cooler in winter, but not below 10°C.
